OTHER SPECIFIED DEPRESSIVE DISORDER

Individuals with a diagnosis of Other Specified Depressive Disorder do not meet full criteria for any of the other depressive disorders, but are, nonetheless, still experiencing clinically significant distress or impairment in social, occupational or other important areas of functioning. The clinician may apply the following specifiers:

1. Recurrent brief depression, whereby the individual experiences depressed mood and at least four other symptoms for 2-13 days per month (not associated with the menstrual cycle) for at least 12 consecutive months.

2. Short-duration depressive episode (4-13 days), whereby the individual experiences depressed mood and at least four other symptoms for at least 4 but less than 14 days.

3. Depressive episode with insufficient symptoms, whereby the individual experiences depressed mood and at least one other symptom and there is clinically significant distress or impairment.
